Former allies of Burkina Faso's longtime president have created their own political party in the latest sign of growing opposition to his rule. Earlier this month, the ruling party suffered an unprecedented crisis when dozens of its members deserted. According to AP, they said they were now siding with opposition leaders to stop any attempt to amend the constitution and set up a senate that many see as a chamber that will facilitate President Blaise Compaore's contest for another term in 2015.
