U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday concluded his fourth trip to Asia, where he visited both Vietnam and the typhoon-hit Philippines, the State Department said. "Earlier today, [Kerry] visited Tacloban in the Philippines to witness the post-typhoon reconstruction efforts. There he announced an additional nearly $25 million in humanitarian aid from the United States," State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said in the daily press briefing. "This additional assistance now brings the entire U.S. humanitarian assistance package to $86 million. The U.S. assistance will continue to provide food aid, shelter materials, clean water, and other items for families affected by the typhoon, as well as protection for vulnerable populations," Harf told reporters. Kerry made his first trip to Vietnam as America's top diplomat. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, he underscored U.S. efforts to provide relief after last month's devastating typhoon Haiyan.
