year-old boy was arrested for killing an 18-year-old boy in a fight between four teenagers – two on each side – that led to the youth's death after he was stabbed three times, a police report said.
The incident took place in Northern Al-Nuzha District in Jeddah after two youths got into a dispute for reasons that have not been disclosed.
The dispute led to a fight in which one teenager was joined by his brother and the other was joined by his cousin, according to the report.
Moments after the fight started, witnesses heard the cries of one of the brothers and those involved in the fight and saw blood on the ground. The victim went into convulsions after he was stabbed, and the assailant and his cousin fled the scene, police said.
The stabbed teenager's brother called authorities and said an ambulance needed to be sent immediately. In another telephone call, he told his family that his brother was lying in a pool of blood in a neighboring street.
The family rushed the injured teenager to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save his life, authorities said.
Doctors confirmed that the teenager sustained three deep stab wounds, one of which was near his heart and led to his death, according to officials.
Security authorities said they learned about the incident after receiving a report from the hospital that the teenager had been brought there and had died after having been stabbed.
The dead youth's family was tense and angry, which led security authorities to take immediate action to prevent another fight or an act of revenge, police said.
Authorities surrounded the area with security patrols and a force from Jeddah Police while investigators worked to determine the causes of the incident and arrest those who were responsible for the murder, police said.
The security authorities arrested the wanted youth at his home and investigations are under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, the police report said.
