Al-Qaeda agents recruit 20-year-old Saudi relative

year-man from east Riyadh's Al-Naseem District, and a relative of Al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen, has been recruited by the terrorist organization, it has been confirmed.
The latest Al-Qaeda recruit is Abdulmajeed Faisal Muhammad Al-Jubairi Al-Shehri, the nephew of Wafa' Al-Shehri, the wife of Saeed Al-Shehri, a wanted Al-Qaeda operative. Abdulmajeed is also the nephew of Yousif Al-Shehri, who was killed by police in a shootout at an Al-Hamra checkpoint on the Coast Road in Jizan on October 13.
The high-school graduate had left his family house after Eid Al-Adha – at the end of last November. He called his mother last week from an unknown location. He told his mother that he met his aunt Wafa' and that she is “well and healthy”.
Abdulmajeed disappeared about a month-and-a-half after his uncle Yousif was killed by police. Sources believe that he left to join Al-Qaeda at that time. Yousif was killed along with another wanted man, Raed Al-Harbi, when they tried to get through the checkpoint disguised as women.
The mother of Wafa' said she had not heard from her daughter or her grandchildren since one call Wafa' made to her younger sister last Ramadan.
It appears that Saeed succeeded in recruiting his wife's nephew by exploiting his youth and personal circumstances. Abdulmajeed was close to his late uncle, and also to his cousin Abdul Ilah, who is on the authorities' 85 most-wanted list announced in November. Abdul Ilah apparently kept in touch with Abdulmajeed.
It is not known if Abdulmajeed went to Yemen alone or with a group. However, sources have not ruled out the possibility that he went to Yemen with a group of other newly-recruited members of Al-Qaeda.
Abdulmajeed was interviewed by Okaz on June 3, 2009, when he revealed that he received a call from his cousin Abdul Ilah from inside Yemen. He said that his cousin spoke to him for nearly 46 minutes and had asked about his mother and brothers. Abdulmajeed said at the time that his cousin told him he was “happy and spent most of his time training and carrying boxes”. “He joked and said he would beat me in a wrestling match because he had gained weight,” Abdulmajeed said in the Okaz interview.
Abdulmajeed, in the interview, also spoke about his aunt Wafa' and how she called him – days after she disappeared with her three children - and told him the details of her arrival in Yemen. She said that Saeed, her husband, had taken them himself from their family house in a car and had driven to Yemen. The mother of Wafa', who is Abdulmajeed's grandmother, was not home at the time when they left.
Only one of Wafa's children, Haajer, is Saeed's offspring, while the other two, Yousif and Wasayef, are the children of two former husbands, one of which is Abdulrahman Al-Ghamdi, who was also killed by police.
The father of Saeed said Tuesday that he had not received any call from his son since he went to Yemen. “He does not dare to call me because he knows my position and opinion of his criminal behavior and detestable actions against his religion, home and Saudi society,” he said.
