Aspiring masters and doctorate scholarship students are to take courses in the English language and foreign cultures before heading off to study abroad. The Ministry of Higher Education Undersecretary for Scholarship Affairs said the courses, which include “an explanation of Western culture, and how to get on with the people and the lifestyle”, would be given at the fifth level of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques External Scholarship Program. “This is the first time that masters and doctorate scholarship students have had to take the courses,” Abdullah Al-Mousa said. “Before it was only for bachelor degree students.” Al-Mousa said that course tests would be set while a “specialist technical committee will be formed to review the syllabi”.
