The management of Modern International School (MIS) has come out with an official statement denying that Yusuf Ali, a class XI student, was physically abused by his teachers. Mirza Abbas Ali, the father of Yusuf, has lodged a strong protest against the school and teachers, asking for an apology and a written explanation for the alleged physical abuse incident. Ali said he will take up the case with the Ministry of Education and the Saudi Human Rights Commission if the school does not act on his demand. Ali has already shifted his son to another school to avoid, according to him, continued harassment of the school and teachers against his son and family. “We hereby deny the allegation in toto. I, as the principal, inquired into the matter and found that the allegation was false and baseless. The child is handicapped. All staff has great compassion and sympathy for him. The matter was very carefully inquired into. The teacher did not even touch the child,” said Kazi M. Siddique, school principal, in his letter to Saudi Gazette. Siddique said that the sponsor of the school, Abdul Aziz Al-Goraniss, has also forwarded and referred the case to the Ministry of Education in Al-Ahsa, urging for an independent inquiry into the case. The principal said the false and baseless allegation of the parents has resulted in some people getting motivation to malign the school by fueling the fire in order for Mirza Abbas Ali to maintain his stand. “To conclude, I would like to state very clearly that the teaching staff of the school is highly qualified, honest, diligent and sincere. Moreover, the factors that constitute the infrastructures of a good school are present at MIS,” Siddique said.
