This is in response to the article “Cows instead of camel for sacrifice,” in Saudi Gazette (Sept. 20). Many thanks to the Ministry of Commerce for this alternate arrangements beforehand. It is very satisfying to know that the number of cows supplied for sacrifice during Haj is very high and there will be no shortages following the withdrawal of camels. Because of the high demand of sacrificial animals during the annual Haj pilgrimage, supplies of sheep and goats from Yemen are down, creating a spike in prices. I would like to know how many cows have come from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan for the Haj market? Rafiqul Islam, Online response
