The recent death of former President of India and a world renowned visionary scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Shillong on July 27 has left a big void. He was a man of vision and always had lofty dreams for Mother India. His life is worthy of emulation by all. Dr. Kalam was the people's president. His endearing nature and undying commitment to see India progress and prosper had turned him into one of the most popular personalities of our times. A true role model. His contribution to India's missile technology was and will always remain a source of inspiration for the country. One of his biggest passions was to interact with students to instill in them a fire to succeed in life. The magnitude of his achievements would be minuscule compared to the impact that he had on people who were at least a quarter-of-a century younger him. He was seen as a father figure and a mentor by students. Mir Ghazanfar Zaki, Online response
