I am writing with regard to the article "Will Israel be kicked out of FIFA?' (May 24). If a national football association plays on the territory of another national association without permission, then this may have wide-ranging legal ramifications and FIFA may well find itself liable if it allows this violation of its own statutes to continue despite receiving a formal complaint from the aggrieved party. If FIFA's statutes have been violated by the inclusion of Israeli teams from the settlements, then this becomes a legal issue and hence would render moot the FIFA vote on the matter.
