I am writing with regard to the article "Tale of two Indias" (May 22). Indian city roads are congested and are unable to cope with the ever increasing number of new car model launches every month. No concerted effort or town planning is seen to construct new flyovers or develop more public transport systems to reduce traffic jams on city roads, with traffic often coming to a standstill during the monsoon season. Road pollution is also becoming a menace due to the increased number of diesel vehicles as diesel is cheaper than petrol. Compact cars cannot run on broken rural roads. Mahesh Jha, Online response
