I would like to ask the author of the article "Only Saudis should drive taxis" (Apr. 25) a simple question. If he can answer it positively, then with 100 percent certainty, Saudization can be implemented. The question is: "Are women, especially Saudi women, willing to sit in a taxi which is driven by a Saudi? Well, we all witness evidence in our daily life that suggests that the answer is "No", and we all know the reason why. Suhail Akhtar, Online response I know a Saudi businessman who owns a taxi firm who said that he tried to institute 100 percent employment of Saudis in his firm. However, his efforts were in vain and his business lost money. After employing only Saudis, the Saudi drivers would not pay him properly or would drive the taxis at their own leisure and then abandon them in some remote area. It is time to stop blaming expats for everything. Ahmed, Online response This article is merely a reflection of the author's personal aggression and lack of awareness and knowledge about the taxi market. The writer must know that there currently exists a parallel system for Saudis to operate their own taxis on the road. Being an expatriate, it would be a pleasure for me to see Saudis working in every field because it is their country and they have the right to do so. However, what is needed is a change in the attitude toward work. Every employer wants a profitable employee. Mushwani, Online response
