With regard to the article “Taking back our cities” (Apr. 8), the fault is our education system. We have to teach our kids ethics, morals, values and respect from the time they are young. We do not do that, and the result is ignorance and bad behavior. Do you ever see us queuing up? Do you see us giving way to someone in a hurry on the road? Do you ever see us putting our litter in the litter bag or bin, instead of flinging it out on the street? Education is what is lacking. Muhammed, Online response This is a dilemma that many of us have to face in the cities where we live. I want to tell you a story of a once beautiful city called Karachi. It was a paradise until an exodus of migrants from rural areas and war-torn countries arrived. These people have absolutely no respect for the place they live in. Karachi today represents the worst possible mix of people. No one seems to follow rules and no one seems to enforce them. It will remain a nightmare until the city is ruled by its own native people.
