AL-AHSA — The tourist accommodation sector has registered high percentages of occupancy during the mid-second semester vacation, as occupancy in hotels and furnished apartments reached 85 percent. The highest occupancy was in Al-Hofuf on Al-Khaleej and Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz streets, Director of Information in the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Ali Al-Abdulwahid said. He added that occupancy during off-season periods ranges between 50 and 60 percent. He said Al-Hofuf has the highest occupancy, adding, the majority of the guests in hotels and furnished apartments in Al-Ahsa are Saudis. He added that the rise in accommodation charges during the vacation is a normal and it is seasonal. Hotels are allowed to raise their charges by 30 percent while furnished apartments are allowed to raise charges by 50 percent.
