I am writing with regard to the article "Don't worry about our high birth rate. Let's have as many babies as we can!" (Feb. 20). Babies are the nation's future workers and they will be important to the economy of the country if they are nurtured properly and raised for the betterment of their family, society and country. It is a general concept in economics that the greater the number of workers earning a salary, the greater the revenue of the country. So healthy babies raised to adulthood and who are properly educated should not be treated as a burden but as the blessing of God. Birth control regulations without proper reasons are not only un-Islamic, but are also a sign of a shrinking economy. We should worry about how we can make them strong in every field so that they are able to face the difficulties of life.
