I would think the comments made by the historian should make Saudi men angry. It makes it look to the rest of the world like the men in this country cannot control themselves around women. This is not how I would want my fellow countrymen to be thought of. Chris Pittman An historian is supposed to be a very wise and clever person having acquired wisdom from studying the lessons of history. But the explanation he gave about the reason for not allowing women to drive was absurd. It is not a question of the integrity of Saudi women rather it is that of the integrity of Saudi men. Ziauddin Afridi Dear non-Muslims, the prohibition on women driving has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam, but rather, has more to do with culture and with the desire to control women. Muslim women participated in wars, rode camels and horses, and were, and are, active in all aspects of family and community life. God does not discriminate against women through religion, but men use religion to discriminate against them. Muslim women in Muslim countries drive cars, fly planes - including military planes - and do whatever they want, within the law and the bounds of decency.
