RIYADH — Visitors and patients at King Saud Hospital here have complained about the common sight of cats roaming inside the corridors of the hospital, Al-Hayat newspaper reported. Cats have been spotted inside the wards several times and the hospital has failed to do anything about the problem. A video clip obtained by Al-Hayat showed cats roaming inside the hospital. The video shows a patient asking a nurse for help and to do something about the cats and the nurse replying that there were many cats in the hospital. Riyadh Health Affairs spokesman Saad Al-Qahtani admitted that several cat sightings have been reported at the hospital and a committee has been formed to investigate the problem along with the company that carries out cleaning and maintenance services for the hospital. Cats can pose a threat to patients as they may carry disease and viruses and they have been spotted in several locations inside the hospital. Eyewitnesses said they have seen cats eating on the hospital's floors and near doors and windows of rooms and some of them scare nurses and prevent them from doing their jobs. Nurses at the hospital have said they have asked management to find a solution to this problem many times but to no avail.
