With reference to the article “Why are we addicted to smartphones?” (Nov. 21), in Saudi Arabia, the addition has become a menace. People are seen glued to their smartphone screens even while driving. I can't understand why they can't wait until they stop driving. It is the same in the workplace and on the streets. People are seen walking, holding their smartphones in front of them like they are a GPS. Malayalee, Online response I just came back from Rome and I saw that people there are not that addicted to smartphones. I learn that they still bring books to read in public transportation. As for myself I am trying to lessen my addiction by reading a book and, while I am abroad, I don't buy the local sim card. I let myself without an internet connection. The result is I can live without social media! Yunika Umar, Online response Very true. I confess I am a smartphone addict, too. I tried to break the habit but I am not able to. I will follow the author's idea and try to distance myself from my smart phone. Nadhira, Online response
