RIYADH – The Civil Defense Directorate on Tuesday signed a contract to buy 800 new advanced equipment and machinery for fire extinguishing, rescue operation and logistic support for its units at a total cost of SR771 million. Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Amr, director general of Civil Defense, said that the contract is part of the already signed agreements with a number of international companies specialized in the manufacture of Civil Defense equipment. He said the purchase of these huge number of equipment comes in line with the directives of Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad Bin Naif. The purchasing oredr include 250 water tankers equipped with advanced pumps and extinguishing instruments, 200 firetrucks, 150 rescue trucks, 50 ladder trucks, and 30 multipurpose winches. — SPA
