This is in response to the article “Wife beater fined” in Saudi Gazette on April 20. Serious bad treatment should be complained of course, but otherwise women (and men) should refrain from criticizing their in-laws. Right you may be, but your husband cannot be expected to go and fight with his mother or sister every now and then. The habit of criticizing (nagging) is counterproductive and will make a husband love his wife less and less, and even hate her. Is it not a small price to pay to tolerate/ignore the stupidities of in-laws, for the sake of winning your loving husband? AP, via online
