Saudi Gazette report SHARJAH — 1001 Inventions, in partnership with the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival and Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), was launched this week. The interactive exhibition themed “1001 Inventions – Discovering Our Past – Inspiring Our Future” highlights the thousand years of scientific and cultural achievements made during the Golden Age of Muslim civilization. The exhibition will be open for visitors until May 15. The exhibition also highlights the achievements made between the 7th and 17th centuries, a period known as the Golden Age, during which inspirational men and women from various faiths worked together to achieve breakthroughs that helped create the foundations of our modern world. Ahmed Salim, producer and director of 1001 Inventions, said the exhibition was part of a global campaign that had already achieved resounding success, reaching over 70 million people around the world with exhibitions, educational programs, festivals, films, books and other media. He noted that the exhibition hosted in Sharjah was one of the largest ever produced by 1001 Inventions. At the end of his speech, he thanked Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, who formally opened the exhibition, the organizers of the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival and Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives, for their support. Dr. Sarah Ghaleb, general manager of the Education Initiatives at ALJCI, said the exhibition continues the great success that were received in Jeddah during the first months of the current year where it welcomed over 450,000 visitors. "We trust it will continue to be an educational and entertaining experience for the visitors, as we envision it will be.” She also pointed out that ALJCI is keen to foster creativity among young people to come up with new inventions.
