Dr. Mohammad Aamir Khan YANBU — Former students of Yanbu Industrial College (YIC), Omar Gazi and Abdulrahman Sobhi, gave a comprehensive presentation of the game of cricket in Arabic at the YIC auditorium here recently. The first part covered basics about a team batting first and included details about how to score runs. In the second part, they talked about what a bowling side does during a match. Bowling a legal ball, getting a batsman out, and other details were covered. The audio-videos aids on basics of cricket and pamphlets in Arabic provided by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) made the session interesting. The presence of Iqbal Sikander, a member of the 1992 World Cup winning Pakistan team, added to the enthusiasm of the students. Following the presentation, Sikander, currently in-charge of the Development Office of Asian Cricket Council (ACC), also conducted a quiz on cricket. The students who gave correct answers were given prizes by Nadeem Nadwi, CEO of SCC. All the participants were given SCC T-shirts and snacks the end of the program which was sponsored by SCC. The icing on the cake was an announcement by Mohammed Al-Rashidi, Director of Student Services at YIC, on behalf of Dr. Adel Babtain, DMD, Student Affairs at the RC Yanbu Colleges & Institutes (RCYCI), that henceforth cricket will be a part of the annual students sports championships at the RCYCI. He also thanked Abdelwasea Khalaf Al-Juhani, Supervisor, Student Activities, for organizing the program. He also thanked Iqbal Sikandar and Nadeem Nadwi for gracing the occasion.
