I am writing with regard to thepost "Expat children denied education because of Nitaqat" (Oct. 15) which points out that the education of expatriate children is interrupted if their father's company falls into the red Nitaqat zone and his iqama is not renewed. You may not be aware of it but the children of Saudi women who are married to non-Saudis are treated in exactly the same way. In the case of expatriate children, the parents have the option of sending their offspring back to their home country to continue their education. But where can the children of Saudi mothers go especially if their father has passed away? The children are actually half Saudi, but that doesn't really seem to matter to anyone except the children themselves and their mother. They live in fear of new government regulations which will have a negative impact on them and they always worry that they may eventually face deportation. Saudi Mother, Online response
