BURAIDAH — The district court in Buraidah sentenced a man to eight years in prison, 800 lashes, and SR80,000 in fines for blackmailing some 100 women. The public prosecutor said the man, who is in his 30s, communicated with his victims on social networking sites and succeeded in obtaining their photos. He then threatened these women that he would post their photos online if they did not pay him money. One of the women notified the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the threats and they arrested him. The judge also sentenced the offender's legal representative to two months in prison, as he supported the man even after he was convicted.
