I am writing with regard to the letter "Airport immigration hall shame" (Oct. 2). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is known for its rich culture of hospitality extended to all communities especially during Ramadan. While no one can deny this, the irony is that at the Kingdom's airports expats get humiliated. I face this bitter experience every time I travel. If perhaps this was brought to the notice of the concerned authorities, something could be done about the problem. Mujeeb Khan, Online response II. It is sad that despite the progress made in the airports in the Gulf region and the attention given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to treating passengers as guests, the staff at passport control at the Kingdom's airports are still in the Stone Age. Dammam Airport has improved quite a bit since I started traveling there instead of using the airport in Bahrain. It is sad that it is immigration alone that is spoiling the good name of all the other improvements there. John Blake, Online response III. I have been traveling between Dubai and Riyadh every 14 days for the last three months and the difference between Dubai and Riyadh immigration is like that between heaven and hell. All Saudi immigration officers should be given a training course at Dubai immigration to learn how to treat the guests to their country. All travelers should be treated in the same polite manner. Indian expat, Online response IV. You can feel true Arab hospitality in Madinah Munawwarah Immigration. If possible, I always prefer to pass through immigration at the airport in Madinah. The officers there are very supportive with Madani manners. They always serve passengers with a smile. Amzad Ali Khan, Online response
