AL-QURAYYAT — Al-Qurayyat Train will start operations in March 2022. The 320-km Al-Jouf and Al-Qurayyat Railway represents the fourth and final phase of the operation of the North Train, which extends from Riyadh to Al-Qurayyat with a length of 1,215 km. This was revealed during an inspection tour of Al-Qurayyat train station by Al-Jouf Emir Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf on Monday. Governor of Qurayyat Abdullah Al-Jasser, Executive Vice President of Saudi Railway Company (SAR) for Infrastructure Eng. Abdullah Al-Yousef and other senior officials received the emir. Prince Faisal's tour covered various facilities of the railway station. He also watched a video presentation about the railway station development program and completing the necessary infrastructure works to operate safe trips to and from Al-Qurayyat station. The station development program included two main projects of repairing affected areas in the railway line between Al-Jouf and Al-Qurayyat, and a project to establish a light maintenance workshop for the passenger train. Prince Faisal stressed the importance of operating the station on time so that the people of the province can benefit from its services after completing its work in accordance with the required safety standards in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The emir then listened to an explanation from Eng. Al-Yousef, who said that the station will start operation and receive passengers in mid-March of next year according to the company's operational plan for this major station. He said car shipping services will also be launched for the first time through the railways of the North Network, taking into account the Qurayyat governorate's important logistical location, which qualifies it for effective regional and international connectivity. "This directly contributes to strengthening the Kingdom's position at the global and regional levels, in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to achieve economic growth and sustainability," he added.
