Houthi attacks targeting civilians in Saudi cities strongly condemned
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 04 - 03 - 2021

RIYADH — Gulf and other allies have strongly condemned the launch of a ballistic missile by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting civilians and civilian facilities in Saudi cities.
In a statement, Bahrain's foreign ministry denounced the missile and drone attacks toward the cities of Jazan and Khamis Mushait.
In a statement, the Bahraini foreign ministry praised the readiness and vigilance of the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces and the Arab Coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen, which intercepted and destroyed the missile and the drone.
The ministry affirmed Bahrain's standing and full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the security measures it takes to deter these Houthi terrorist attacks and protect citizens and residents on its territories.
In a statement on Thursday, the UAE's foreign ministry said: "The continued threat of these attacks in recent days is a grave escalation that represents "new evidence of these militias' attempts to undermine security and stability in the region."
The UAE foreign ministry reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom over these terrorist attacks and reiterated its stance against all threats to the Kingdom's security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
The statement emphasized that "the security of the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are indivisible, and that any threat facing the Kingdom is considered by the Emirates a threat to its security and stability."
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned the attacks and commended the vigilance of the Royal Saudi Air Defense who intercepted and destroyed the ballistic missile.
He reiterated the OIC's solidarity with all measures taken by the forces of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen to protect civilians and civilian objects according to international humanitarian law. He pointed out that the escalation of terrorist and hostile acts by the Houthi militia is considered war crimes.
