Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 11 - 2019

WAJH — The Al-Wajh region (about 325 km to the south of Tabuk) on the Red Sea is characterized by its beautiful sceneries and untapped nature. It has areas which are maintaining their own glamor and aesthetic beauty.
The Al-Arabiya.net sailed for 45 km to the north of Al-Wajh and was dazzled by the beauty of the sea and its mesmerizing colors.
In the shores of Sharm Hawaz, near the village of Al-Nikhaira, Al-Arabiya team met with a photographer, Mohamed Sharif, who joined the team in the trip.
He described the place to be a natural swimming pool as the waves enter into it from one side through a narrow .
He said the scheme is part of the Red Sea project (Amaala) and is often visited by divers, swimmers and fishermen.
Sharif said he is often attracted by the beautiful colors of the islands and the blueness of the sea which gives a sense of serenity and comfort.
He said he used a drone camera to document the trip and to catch the beautiful places for posterity.
Sharif pointed out at a wrecked ship on the shore and said it has been there for more than 70 years.
He said the ship broke down while on its away to Egypt and remained there ever since.
Sharif said the ship was carrying goods and foodstuffs. It was owned by Ibrahim Ghabban, who was a merchant.
He said the ship docked in its place for repair and maintenance which were not completed. Its captain was named Atiq Al-Hilaili Al-Rashidi.
The photographer said the ship is now one of the tourist attractions in the area.
