MAKKAH — The Makkah Maternity Hospital has formed a committee to investigate the mysterious death of a woman and her fetus.
Zaki Al-Jabri said his wife was visiting the hospital to follow up her pregnancy.
The doctor told her that she would most likely deliver on Jan. 6, but she did not. A few days later she was admitted, but the doctor told her that her uterus was not ready yet and was given suppositories to induce labor pains. She still did not deliver.
The woman called her husband and told him that she was in great pain. Hours later, the man was informed by the hospital that the fetus had died in the womb.
They also asked him to sign the consent to allow the doctor to remove the woman's uterus. He went to the hospital to see his wife, but the hospital told him to return later. When he did, the hospital bluntly informed him of his wife's death.
The 43-year-old woman was a mother of four girls and a boy. Her husband is asking the minister of health to intervene in the case and get him justice.
The hospital's director, Dr. Waleed Al-Amri, said the findings of an investigation committee will be communicated to the minister.
