Indian community leader leaves Kingdom after two decades

JEDDAH – A farewell party was organized for Dr. Ali Akbar, who worked as a dentist at Shifa Polyclinic, Jeddah, at the SEDCO resort.Akbar, who hails from India, is going back to his home country after working in the Kingdom for two decades.
Akbar is an avid reader who relentlessly pursued his researches both in medical and literary fields.
He is also a proficient writer in English and Malayalam and penned a number of articles in Saudi and foreign newspapers including Saudi Gazette.
Akbar was also an active participant in the community social and cultural activities.
During the past 20 years, Akbar was associated with a number of leading Keralite organizations based in Jeddah such as Muslim Educational Society, Community Welfare Forum, Tanima and Muslim Service Society and held their key positions.
He is also one of the founding members of Saudi Kerala Doctors Forum (SKDF) and was its general secretary for three consecutive terms.
Akbar in his speech said he considers community services as worship to God and this attitude enabled him to render his services sincerely and honestly.
He is also a member of the prestigious American Society of Forensic Odontology and passed FDS, RCS examinations of British Royal College of Surgeons.
Speaking at the farewell function, Abdul Shukoor, president of Tanima north zone, said: "Dr. Akbar is a role model for those who want to imbibe good qualities and his dedication and devotion to his profession was exemplary."
He also commended Akbar's contributions to the community and his passion to pursue his studies and researches even through his busy schedule.

C.K Mammad, A.K Saidalavi, Siraj Kollam, Sadik, Abdul Latif and Zuhra Basheer also spoke at the function.
In India, Akbar will join as a lecturer in Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences in Ernakulam, Kerala. – SG
