THERE is nothing worse than dealing with a lunatic except than dealing with a gung-ho trigger happy lunatic. That precisely describes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Mad Max-like actions. Netanyahu has been desperately trying to persuade the West to support him in bombing Iran and when his intelligence chief and his defense minister did not support his decision, the West, particularly the US, was not too keen in going ahead with this idea. He kept the ‘idea' alive, kept repeating the thought in every political meetings. So, therefore, it should not come as any surprise when the Israeli forces launched another mad military campaign against the civilians of Gaza, a campaign that is killing women and children. But again that is nothing new. This is Israel! I am continuously in awe at the audacity to defend Israel by the West. It is beyond shameful. The bloody campaign is far from over. Israel is increasing the frequency and power of its aerial assault and what the Palestinians built over the last five years the Israeli war machine managed to destroy in five days while the world sat and watched. Whenever dealing with level of continuous brutality, this non-stop killings by a government that respects no laws, that honors no borders, that does not recognize rights of others then you can be certain that this situation cannot be sustainable and should not be allowed to remain so. I got this latest Israeli-Palestinian bit of news during a conference in London in which I was a speaker. During one of the sessions I was flabbergasted by one of the questions that were asked by an elderly Englishman. He said there is a great gap between the West and the Muslim world vis-à-vis the Israeli matter. He said that “the Israelis, like us”, share common Judeo-Christian values and that is the difference. I had to answer him back and said, “Surely you can't be serious! Do you think that you speak on the behalf of all Christians here? Because the one million of Copts, Greek Orthodox, Armenians, Georgians and Russian Orthodox don't share ‘these' values that you have mentioned, not to speak of millions of Catholics as well! These Christians don't accept seizing other people's land or killing the innocent. They simply don't.” Now these are the values that need to be highlighted, not some mad lunatic concept of the world under the Zionism banner. This is an evil concept that deserves the garbage bin with its infamous cousin the apartheid system that ruled South Africa one day. It's high time for honorable Christians to divorce themselves from Zionism. It's madness!
