In celebration of the Saudi National Day on Sunday, a parade of classic cars, sports cars, and motorcycles was launched in Jeddah to spread some fun and excitement and also to promote the message of love and loyalty to this great nation. The parade of eighty cars and motorbikes cruised along Al-Malik Road to draw local visitors and tourists to the festivities. The automobiles finally gathered and were on display for everyone to admire on the grounds just outside Red Sea Mall, over a surface area of 1,000 square meters. The organizer of this unique event, Zainab Al-Qahtani, said, “The event attracted hundreds of automobile enthusiasts, artists, photographers, and families. In front of the audience, graffiti artists spray painted colorful patterns on some of the remodeled classic cars and on the walls and pavements. This was a creative way to express their happiness and to show their love for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. And indeed, we have much to celebrate. Ever since King Abdulaziz united the Kingdom and started to build the country 82 years ago, astounding feats have been accomplished. This was our day to celebrate the country's unity, development, peace, and prosperity.” Zainab added that it was due to the strong support and encouragement from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, that Saudi women are now playing such prominent, active, and leading roles in the development of the Kingdom under his reign over the past decade. Saudi women have again and again proved their competence and proficiency in business, medicine, investments, education, and even top administrative jobs that are steering this country towards development, growth, and sophistication. Over 200 young men were there to put on an unforgettable show of art, restoration and remodeling of classic cars, motorcycle stunts, and poetry recitals. More than 100 young Saudi women also participated in the event as they showcased their artwork and women's fashions and accessories which they designed. Zainab pointed out that the youth who had made this event such a tremendous success were also involved in much volunteer and community service work. These young men and women hold dear to their hearts important values, such as respecting elders, helping those in need, and the concept of using their time wisely. The younger generation is the wealth of this country and its most powerful resource which is why the government will increase its investment in their education and skills development. – SG
