Sajjad blasts a century in Afternoon

JEDDAH — Amir Sajjad century steered Friends XI to victory in the WPCA Afternoon Tournament here. In other matches, IDB Group, Al-Safri XI, ALS Warriors, Zultrack, AMI Juffali, Thales Group and Nestle Milo emerged winners.
IDB Group thrashed NNG Sports by 10 wickets. NNG Sports, opting to bat first, crashed out for 97. Hashim Khan ripped through the batting to grab 4-25 and Mustafa took 2-9. Bilawal compiled 14, Ehtesham 23 and Noman 15.
IDB Group reached 103 in just 36 balls as Khawar Sohail hammered an unbeaten 66 studded with 12 fours and 2 sixes and Nasir Khan made 23.
Friends XI defeated Lothers by 76 runs. Friends XI racked up a mammoth 254-4. Amir Sajjad blasted 105 in 45 balls with 7 sixes and 11 fours. He added 145 in 67 balls for the second wicket with Wajahat Shah who made 52 in 27 balls. Niaz Ahmed then stroked an unbeaten 21 and Saleem 41 not out.
Lothers CC, in reply, was restricted to 178 after a commanding start of 126 runs in first 10 overs. Shamsuddin smashed 55 in 23 balls, Yasar K 25 and Badushah 15. Asif and Pradeep contributed an identical 19. Omair took 3-34 and Wajahat Shah 3-19.
Al-Safri had the last laugh against Awesome Iklil by 4 wickets. Awesome Iklil got to an impressive 185-5, thanks to a fine innings of 75 in 41 balls with 8 fours and a six by Adnan. He first added 60 with Asad (24) and then 80 in 47 balls with Ahmed (39). Manjeet Kumar was the pick of the bowler with 4-35.
Al-Safri XI, in chase, reached 186-6 in 116 balls. Hasanat Ahmed hammered 59 in 33 balls as he added 52 with Muneeb (15) and then 49 with Aftab Malik (34). Waseem Imran and Abid contributed 20 each. Naveed Dadabhoy grabbed 2-39.
ALS Warriors edged past UCC by 4 wickets. UCC posted 154-7. Ali Raza topscored with 50 in 33 balls and Mudassir Raja hit 41. Safiuddin took 3-17 and Amjad Jutt 2-31.
ALS Warriors achieved the victory (155-6), thanks to a fighting knock by Emaduddin who smashed 86 in 63 balls with 9 fours and a six. He added 81 in 63 balls with Mohammed Khan (30) after the top order caved in cheaply. Talha scored 15. Shahnawaz Khan took 2-14 and Yasir Ameen 2-32.
Zultrack beat AOT by 4 wickets. AOT produced 198-7 through Faisal Mehmood (67 in 39 balls). He added 86 for the 2nd wicket with Waqas (23). Qaiser Lateef scored 39 and Aqeel 20. Yusuf took 3-37 and Khalid Iqbal 2-41.
Zultrack reached 204 in 116 balls with 4 wickets in hand. Mohsin hit 78 in 36 balls, Subaiyyal 40, Umar 24 and Qaim Khan unbeaten 41. Ali Raza took 3-32 and Asim 2-12.
AMI Juffali snatched victory from Fuchs Alhamrani by 6 wickets with 22 balls to spare. Fuchs Alhamrani got to 187-8. Abdulghafour made 43, Nasir Khan 21, Nazaish 47, Saqib 28 and Shahid 25. Shabbir took 3-30 and Shahzad 3-34.
AMI Juffali achieved 191-4 in 98 balls. Imad hit 57 in 33 balls. He added 82 in 47 balls with Rafi Gujjar (36). Shahzad remained unbeaten on 67 off just 21 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes and Shabbir scored 23 to add together a match-winning 82. Irfan Anjum took 2-36.
