Australia and the United Arab Emirates are to receive US CH-47F helicopters from the United States through foreign military sales contracts. Boeing said it was awarded a contract by the US Army for 13 of the helicopters for the two countries, plus one for the Army itself. The award is worth about $370 million, it said, and delivery of the aircraft begins in 2014. “This new aircraft sale brings our Chinook backlog to more than 200 aircraft for both domestic and international customers worldwide,” said Leanne Caret, H-47 programs vice president. “Boeing's recent $130 million investment to create a world-class Chinook manufacturing facility near Philadelphia means we are well positioned to respond to this demand.”
