According to reports, the man exploited his position as an ambulance driver to sell bottles of araq from the vehicle. He even used the ambulance's siren to force vehicles out of his way when he was in a hurry to meet his customers. However the man's activities were discovered when his fellow countrymen tipped off the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) which posted several teams to pursue the driver. The teams were unsure of the man's exact location so they were forced to comb several areas frequented by the ambulance driver. Eventually they tracked him down and began a surveillance operation. The driver was observed going to a location to fill his ambulance with suspicious plastic bags. The CID swooped on him and discovered bottles of araq hidden in the plastic bags. The team then searched the man's home where they discovered even more liquor. Brig. Misfer Al-Je'aid, Jeddah Police spokesman, confirmed to Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the man and an accomplice are now being held in police custody. __
