The Shoura Council has recommended granting citizenship to non-Saudi wives of citizens, according to informed sources. This will be based on the conditions that a couple must have been married for 10 years; and must still be married. Sources added that the Shoura Council has also sent recommendations to the Council of Ministers to grant citizenship to the children of Saudi women married to non-Saudi men. The children will be treated as Saudis in terms of the provision of health services, education and applying for social and investment loans. These children will also get special five-year identity cards with their names, place of issue, date and place of birth, and card number. Driver's license fee Meanwhile, the Shoura Council will amend the four-year-old traffic law to reduce driver's license fees. This follows a proposal from Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Inad and Eng. Saleh Al-Mari in which they suggested changes to articles 36, 41 and 73 of the traffic law. The proposed change to Article 36 suggests that the annual fees should be reduced from SR40 to SR20 and the annual renewal fee from SR40 to SR20. The relevant committee supported the proposal and indicated that citizens and residents should enjoy low fees. There will also be changes to Article 41 which currently stipulates that the validity of a driver's license for cars and motorcycles should be 10 years and other licenses should be five years. __
