Tameside entrepreneurs create streaming app to revive music industry Listeners all over the world are able to tune in to the live stream of iconic venues
A pair of Manchester-based entrepreneurs are set to revive the live music industry after launching a streaming platform. Matthew Walsh and Helen Fish, of Tameside, have created Beatstream, a digital streaming service which allows music venues and artists to audio stream their gigs live to the nation. This allows enthusiasts to experience live music and discover both new artists and venues from their phone, tablet or computer. Co-founder Helen Fish, 35, said: "The live music industry has really suffered in recent years with many venues struggling and even closing down. "Beatstream is all about creating a connection and we believe that by giving people the opportunity to experience live music in their own surroundings we can reignite the feelings and emotions that only live music creates and eventually bring old and new customers through the venue doors." Beatstream has not only been developed for music lovers but also with a focus on what venues and artists need to keep them connected to fans. Listeners all over the world are able to tune in to the live stream of iconic venues. Sarah Healey, business development director said: "We're still a start-up but we are aiming big and in addition to our iconic northern music venues we have around 200 additional venues across the country ready to go live, so it's an exciting time. "I think starting our business in Manchester has been extremely positive for us as a tech business, Manchester is an amazing city and its vibrant music and technology eco-spheres have been essential to our success so far." Beatstream is part of the Entrepreneurial Spark Powered by NatWest accelerator programme.
