Published in Alriyadh on 25 - 04 - 2015

The security spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior announced that On the update of the announcement of 19/6/1436H relating to the shooting from an unidentified vehicle at a police car during its daily round in eastern Riyadh that led to the death of First Private/ Thamer Omran Al-Mutairi and First Private/ Abdulmohsen Khalaf Al-Mutairi (May Allah bless them as martyrs),
The concerned security departments arrested one suspect involved in the heinous crime; namely, Yazied Mohammad Abdulrahman Abu Nayan, 23 years. He was arrested in his hiding place in a farm at Al-Awained Center in the Province of Huraimela.
When interrogated and confronted with the evidence, he admitted that he carried out the shooting at the police patrol and the killing of its driver and his partner. He said he was executing instructions he received from the terrorist organization ISIS of Syria, and said that he was instructed to remain inside (Saudi Arabia) so that he can put to service his expertise in firearms, explosive devices, booby traps, and firearm silencers. Consequently, on Monday 17/6/1436H, in collaboration with ISIS individuals, he met somewhere in eastern Riyadh with an individual having a Moroccan accent and of whom he claimed to have known nothing but his name (Barjas). During their meeting, the two made contact with ISIS individuals who briefed them on the nature of the intended assault and specified the role of each. He himself was to fire while his partner Barjas was to drive and capture the attack on tape. ISIS individuals had also provided the two with the weapons and ammunition along with SR 10,000 (ten thousand Saudi Riyals) through a third party whom (Abu Nayan claims) they never met. Then, ISIS instructed them to carry out the attack.
The ongoing intensive investigations in this case led to the confiscation of the following:
First: an assault Polish made Sub-machine gun (7.62mm caliber), found buried at fifty centimeter deep in a walled ground in the desert, about one kilometer off the farm where the suspect was hiding in Al-Awained Center. The forensics laboratories testing of the empty shell casings and bullets against the Sub-machine unique forensic print, proved that it was the crime weapon. Buried with the Sub-machine, were also found another automatic weapon, 7 magazines of ammunition, 166 live bullets, and a sum of 4898 Saudi Riyals.
Second: 7 vehicles of which 3 were already undergoing booby-trapping; in addition to a substance suspected of having an explosive nature, along with other tools and items used in bomb making, and a sum of 4500 Saudi Riyals.
Third: three mobile phone devices of which one was hidden inside a car tire abandoned at the shoulder of the road to the Province of Rumah. The other two devices were found buried close by. The technical examination of the contents of the three devices revealed exchanged text messages between the perpetrators and the terrorist groups in Syria. Of these messages, one includes a text, audio and video confirmation of the attack. Another message instructs them to hide and stay out of sight.
The technical results of the confiscated devices corroborated the suspect confession statements.
The security bodies were also able to identify the so-named Barjas who hid his real identity by using an alias and a Moroccan accent to evade recognition. He is Saudi national, Nawaf Sharif Sumair Al-Anazi who is wanted for former legal and criminal cases.
In announcing this, the Ministry of Interior is urging suspect Nawaf Sharif Sumair Al-Anazi to come back to the path of righteousness and turn himself in. The Ministry of Interior invites citizens and residents who have any information about the suspect to call 990 immediately. A reward of one million Saudi Riyals is offered to whoever provides information leading to his arrest. At the same time, the Ministry of Interior warns of being criminally and religiously accountable whoever deals with him, extends any assistance to him, and/or withholds information of his whereabouts.
In the coming days, the Ministry of Interior will be announcing a number of threatening security incidents that were identified and their intended plans were foiled.
