Ayoon wa Azan (Nothing Ever Changes)
Published in AL HAYAT on 30 - 06 - 2013

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that he wants to start peace negotiations with the Palestinians without pre-conditions, which in itself constitutes a pre-condition..
The war criminal who heads the fascist cabinet in Israel is requiring from the Palestinians to negotiate with him, while he is practicing his killings, destruction, occupation and expansion of the settlements into the occupied lands (knowing that Israel as a whole consists of occupied Palestinian land). He is also working on promulgating laws to steal the properties of forty percent of the people of Jerusalem (there is only one Jerusalem, which is the eastern or Arab Jerusalem. As for the western or Israeli Jerusalem, it is a new suburb that has no historic or geographic value).
The US Secretary of State John Kerry is carrying his fifth visit to the region since he was appointed to his post last February. Kerry is a moderate and well intentioned politician, who is insisting on launching a new peace process. He believes that he can push the Palestinian and Israeli sides to conclude a deal.
He launched his tour to discuss the issue of Syria and Iran, following the election of the new Iranian president. He started his trip in Qatar, then visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, before heading to Jordan, where he plans to organize tri-lateral negotiations, with the participation of the United States, the Palestinians and Israel, under the sponsorship of King Abdullah II. Thus, it would be the first meeting that would bring together the Israeli Minister of Justice Tzipi Livni, and Netanyahu's consultant Ishac Molho, along with the Palestinian negotiator, Dr. Saeb Erekat.
I believe that John Kerry will fail because good intentions alone cannot lead to success. In our country, we have a saying that goes, "a dog that needs to be forced to hunt could not and should not be hunting." The Israeli wolf is proceeding with the confiscation of lands and it does not want to see a Palestinian state. This was clearly stated by the Israeli Minister of Trade, Naftali Bennett, a Jewish American emigrant, and by the Defense Minister, Danny Danon.
For him to agree to the launching of negotiations with the Israelis, President Mahmoud Abbas required the halting of the settlements and Israel's accepting to take part in the negotiations, based on the 1967 borders, in addition to the release of 120 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life in prison prior to the Oslo agreements.
I am writing upon Kerry's arrival to Israel and we will be hearing additional conflicting and contradictory news, or pieces of information that will negate one another. I personally do not think it is important to learn which pieces of news are correct and which are not. Eventually, there will only be one outcome, which is that there will be no peace with the Netanyahu cabinet. This cabinet is the ugly face of the Israeli occupation. The American Congress, and maybe the Administration, is supporting the Israeli cabinet and thus encouraging it to steal what is left of the Palestinian territories.
This week marks the elapse of 100 days since the birth of Netanyahu's gang of war and evil that he dubs a cabinet. This cabinet is no different from Netanyahu's earlier cabinet or the one that he headed between 1996 and 1999. Back then, peace was near, but Netanyahu aborted all of Bill Clinton's efforts. When Netanyahu lost the elections and was out of the game, it was already too late, since Clinton's second term was almost over and only a few weeks were left for him to rule.
I am writing this piece now as Kerry has gone back to Israel and held a four hour long meeting with Netanyahu. He might go back there again to announce the outcomes of his efforts, prior to the press conference to be held on Saturday.
I wish Kerry success and I know that he is a fair man, just like President Obama and his deputy, Joe Biden. However, he is dealing with the war criminals of the Israeli cabinet. For this reason, he always comes with a lot of excitement and leaves empty handed. Nothing ever changes...
